The function of this translation is not only to provide an English translation for non-Spanish speakers but also to inform the readers on the topic of cultural appropriation and flamenco and in this article revolving around Rosalía. Although the function of the translation is much the same as the original text, argumentative, explanatory and informative, I want to focus more on the informative function to expand the reader’s knowledge and provide background information. There are many direct quotations, facts and specific terms used by the author in the source text, so I believe it is essential to maintain the original author’s tone and approach. The translation intends to familiarise the reader with Rosalía and educate them on the topic along with providing explanations of cultural references that they would benefit from.
